Dutch dressage queen Anky van Grunsven has said in an interview with a Dutch news paper she is at peace with Bonfire's dead.
'The last weeks Bonfire was weakened. He was suffering from laminitis and was in his stall the whole day. I have been with him a lot. That feels nice to me. I realized 'this is it, it is enough'. Together with Sjef and my vet we decided to euthanize him. Bonfire passed away on familiar ground, in the indoor arena. He will be cremated.'
